Il pozzo di Maya

In India ci sono pozzi grandi e profondi in cui si rischia di cadere in quanto, la sommità, è ricoperta da cespugli.

Una volta, un viandante stava camminando nella verdeggiante foresta e, all’improvviso, sentì il suo piede sprofondare nel vuoto:
stava cadendo in un pozzo.
Mentre si dimenava, in preda alla più cupa paura, riuscì ad afferrare un rampicante cresciuto nelle profondità.
Era salvo, ma sospeso nel vuoto!

Per un breve attimo si sentì sollevato, ma l’attimo dopo il suo sguardo fu catturato da qualcosa in fondo al pozzo…era un alligatore, dall’aria affamata.

Non gli restò che guardare in alto… c’erano due ratti, uno bianco e uno nero che stavano rosicchiando proprio quel rampicante a cui si era così morbosamente attaccato.

Il suo sguardo si spinse ancora oltre, al di sopra del pozzo… c’era un grande favo dove le api raccoglievano il miele. Con gli occhi colmi di stupore notò che il miele colava proprio nel pozzo, e finiva esattamente nella sua bocca.
Lo assaporò, lo degustò, ne godette, ancora, ancora e ancora…

sulle sue labbra, quel gusto nettarino gli sembrò così inebriante che riuscì persino a dimenticare i ratti e il coccodrillo.

Questa è la storia di Maya, il sogno mortale!

L’essere umano è appeso nel pozzo della morte.
Il coccodrillo è la stessa morte che lo avrà.
I due ratti rappresentano il giorno (quello bianco) e la notte (quello nero)
che susseguendosi l’uno all’altra segnano il passare del tempo.
Il rampicante è la vita individuale, che viene rosicchiata dal tempo.
Il miele simboleggia i godimenti mondani che ci distraggono dalla morte e dal tempo.

Questo è il samsara: l’illusoria visione della vita.
Eppure tutti sembrano essere felici.

L’intelligenza degli esseri umani è in uno stato di sonnambulismo.
Derubati dalle attività delle gratificazioni dei sensi siamo caduti nel buio pozzo dell’esistenza materiale.

In quel pozzo la visione è così ristretta, ci accontentiamo di sperare in gocce di piacere rimanendo tormentati dalla paura di finire in bocca alla morte.

Intanto i giorni passano, i mesi e gli anni persi ad aspettare un’altra qualche gratificazione, un altro qualche appagamento, un altro miglioramento.
Eppure…in un istante possiamo balzare fuori da quel pozzo e arrogarci l’intero favo della beatitudine del Sé.
La vera vita è oltre la vita e la morte, lì in quell’immensità, non c’è tempo.

La storia del vaso immaturo

Questi vasi davanti a te, i santi qui presenti, sono i vasi di Brahma, il creatore. Valuta tu quali tra essi sono pronti e quali no".Gora rispose:"Certamente, lo farò subito!" e prese così il bastone con il quale era solito battere i suoi vasi per testarne la solidità.Si recò al cospetto di ognuno dei suoi ospiti, colpendoli alla testa così come faceva abitualmente con i suoi vasi.Ciascuno dei presenti si sottomise umilmente al colpo, ma quando Gora si avvicinò a Namdev, quest’ultimo esclamò indignato:"Tu, vasaio, cosa vuoi dire colpendomi con quel bastone?”.Allora, Gora si rivolse a Jnaneswar dicendo:"Swami, tutti gli altri vasi sono stati cotti a dovere;solo questo, ossia Namdev, non è ancora cotto abbastanza".Scoppiarono tutti a ridere!Namdev si sentì profondamente umiliato e scappò via di corsa recandosi da Vitthala (il Signore Krishna, la divinità che adorava), con il quale aveva stretto una profonda amicizia, a tal punto da giocare, mangiare e dormire con lui.Namdev cominciò a lamentarsi con Vitthala dell’umiliazione appena subita.Proprio lui che era l’amico e il compagno più intimo di Vitthala!Vitthala -il quale ovviamente era al corrente di tutto- finse di simpatizzare con Namdev, chiedendo ogni dettaglio su quanto accaduto nella casa di Gora.Dopo aver ascoltato attentamente, disse:"Perché non hai mantenuto il silenzio e non ti sei sottomesso al colpo di bastone, come hanno fatto tutti gli altri?È da qui che sono iniziati tutti i tuoi guai!".Namdev scoppiò in lacrime e singhiozzando disse:"Anche Tu vuoi unirti a loro ed umiliarmi?Perché avrei dovuto sottomettermi come tutti gli altri?Non sono forse il Tuo amico più intimo, il Tuo bambino?”.Vitthala rispose:"Non hai ancora compreso appieno la verità e, se te la dicessi ora, non la capiresti.Vai da quel santo che vive nella foresta tra le rovine del tempio.Lui potrà indicarti come ottenere la liberazione”.Namdev allora si recò al luogo indicato e lì trovò un uomo anziano e strano che dormiva in un angolo del tempio e aveva i piedi sullo Shivalingam (rappresentazione della divinità, Shiva).Namdev non riusciva a credere che quello sarebbe stato il santo da cui lui, il compagno preferito di Sri Krishna, avrebbe ottenuto la liberazione.Tuttavia, poiché non c’era nessun altro nei paraggi, si avvicinò al santo e batté le mani di colpo.L’uomo si svegliò e vedendo Namdev esclamò:"Oh, tu devi essere Namdev, mandato da Vitthala, entra!”.Namdev si sentì perplesso e pensò:"Costui deve essere un grande uomo, perché sa chi sono io".Tuttavia, riteneva inaccettabile che chiunque, per quanto grande, potesse poggiare i piedi sul sacro lingam!Allora chiese al sant’uomo:"Tu sembri un grande essere, ma è appropriato per te tenere i piedi su un lingam?".Il sant’uomo rispose:"Oh, i miei piedi sono su un lingam? Davvero? Dov’è il lingam? Fammi la cortesia, sposta i miei piedi altrove".Namdev rimosse i piedi del santo dal lingam e li poggiò in luoghi diversi, ma ovunque li posasse lì si manifestava un lingam!Alla fine li mise sulle proprie ginocchia e… lui stesso diventò Shivalingam!Realizzò la verità!Il santo gli disse: "Ora puoi tornare a casa".Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi aggiunse:"Sia chiaro che, solo quando finalmente, il devoto si arrese e toccò i piedi del guru, conseguì la liberazione".Namdev tornò a casa e per qualche giorno non si recò più al tempio a trovare Vitthala, nonostante fosse sua abitudine non solo fargli visita quotidianamente, ma anche trascorrere con lui gran parte del tempo.Dopo qualche giorno Vitthala andò lui stesso a cercarlo a casa sua.Con sublime innocenza gli chiese come mai l’avesse dimenticato e non fosse andato più a fargli visita.Namdev rispose: "Non mi faccio più ingannare.Ora so! Dov’è quel luogo in cui Tu non dimori?!Per stare con Te, devo forse venire al tempio? Esisto forse come separato da Te?”.Allora Vitthala con commozione disse:"Ora conosci la verità!Per questo motivo ti ho mandato ad imparare la lezione fondamentale… l’arrendevolezza!”.Quando il vaso è vuoto solo allora c’è maturità.Ai colpi del Maestro, colui-colei che si sente imbarazzato sparisce.Colui che può reagire ed irritarsi non c’è più.Rimane sì il devoto, certo, lì nello stesso posto.Però non lo si può più disturbare.Tutto quello che egli credeva di dover difendere si è eclissato.Tutto ciò che credeva di fare, tutto quello che credeva si essere quel ‘me’, torna da dove è venuto….nel nulla…tutta la ragnatela di credenze, idee e immagini di sé evapora nel nulla…tutto si scioglie persino l’idea che doveva accadere chissà cosa per sentirmi felice o soddisfatto…Ciò che rimane è il silenzio privo di confini che nulla vuole e nulla più pretende di essere….la gioia senza oggetto.Hari Om[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

we can speak to each other why should we not speak to Iswara in the same way?devote: Then why does it not happen with us?Sri Ramana Maharishi:It requires purity and strength of mind and practice in meditation.devote: Does God become evident if the above conditions exist?Sri Ramana Maharishi:Such manifestation is as real as your own reality.In other words, when you identify yourself with the body as in the waking state you see gross objects;when in subtle body or in mental plane as in the dream state, you see objects equally subtle;in the absence of identification as in the deep sleep, you see nothing.The objects seen bear a relation to the state of the seer.The same applies to visions of God.By long practice the figure of God, as meditated upon, appears in dream and may later appear in the waking state also.devote: Is that the state of God-realisation?Sri Ramana Maharishi:Listen to what happened once years ago.“Vithoba, a great sage, found Namdev (a great devotee) had not yet realized the supreme truth and wanted to teach him.When Jnaneswar (a great sage) and Namdev returned from their pilgrimage, Gora the potter, gave a feast to all the saints in his residence and among them were also Jnaneswar and Namdev.At the feast Jnaneswar, in collusion with Gora, told Gora publicly,‘You are a potter, daily engaged in making pots and testing them to see which are properly baked and which are not.These pots before you, all the saints presents, are the pots of Brahma, the creator.See which of these are sound and which not.’Thereupon Gora said,‘Yes, I shall do so,’ and took up the stick with which he used to tap his pots to test their soundness.Holding it aloft in his hand he went to each of his guests and tapped each on the head as he usually did to his pots.Each guest humbly submitted to such tapping.But when Gora approached Namdev, the latter indignantly called out,‘You potter, what do you mean by coming to tap me with that stick?’Gora thereupon told Jnaneswar,‘Swami, all the other pots have been properly baked.This one, Namdev, alone is not yet properly baked’.All the assembled guests burst into laughter.Namdev felt greatly humiliated and ran up to Vitthala (Lord Krishna, the deity he worshipped) with whom he was on the most intimate terms, playing with him, eating with him, sleeping with him and so on.Namdev complained of this humiliation which had happened to him, the closest friend and companion of Vitthala.Vitthala (who of course knew all this) pretended to sympathize with him, asked for all the details of the happenings at Gora’s house and after hearing everything said,‘Why should you not have kept quiet and submitted to the tapping, as all the others did? That is why all this trouble has come’.Thereupon Namdev cried all the more and said,‘You also want to join the others and humiliate me? Why should I have submitted like the others? Am I not your closest friend, your child?’Vitthala said, ‘You have not yet properly understood the truth, and you won’t understand if I tell you.But go to the saint who lives in the forest in a ruined temple. He will be able to give you liberation’.Namdev accordingly went there and found an old, unassuming man sleeping in a corner of the temple with his feet on a Shivalingam.Namdev could hardly believe this was the man from whom he – the companion of Vitthala – was to gain liberation.However, as there was none else there, Namdev went near the man and clapped his hands.The old man woke up with a start and seeing Namdev, said,‘Oh, you are Namdev whom Vitthala has sent here, come!’Namdev was dumbfounded and began to think,‘This must be a great man’.Still he thought it was revolting that any man however great, should be resting his feet on a sacred lingam.He asked the old man,‘You seem to be a great personage. But is it proper for you to have your feet on a lingam?’The old man replied, ‘Oh, are my feet on a lingam? Where is it? Please remove my feet elsewhere’.Namdev removed the feet and put them in various places. Wherever they were put, there was a Shivalingam. Finally, he took them on his lap and he himself became a Shivalingam!He realised the truth!The saint said, ‘Now you can go back’.Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi added, ‘It is to be noted that only when he surrendered himself, and touched the feet of his guru, enlightenment came.Namdev returned to his house and for some days did not go to Vitthala at the temple, though it had been his habit not only to visit Vitthala every day, but to spend most of his time with Vitthala at the temple.So, after a few days, Vitthala went to Namdev’s house and like a guileless soul, enquired how it was that Namdev had forgotten him and never visited him.Namdev replied,‘No more of your fooling me. I know now. Where is the place where you are not! To be with you, should I go to the temple? Do I exist apart from you?’Then Vitthala said,‘So you now understand the truth.That is why you had to be sent for this final lesson…to learn surrender…the ultimate virtue!”Only when the cup is empty, maturity arises.Under the Master’s stroke, the one who felt embarrassed disappears.Who reacts and gets irritated is no more.Only the devotee remains, undisturbed.All of what was thought to be protected vanishes.All that ‘me’ believed to have to do and have to be, goes back to where it came…into emptiness.All that web of beliefs, ideas and imaginations about oneself evaporates into the void.Everything melts away even the idea that something had to happened in order to feel happy and satisfied.What remains is boundless silence, devoid of any wants and demands.Joy without an object.Hari Om[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

Tutto quello che ti tocca, è destinato a sparire.

Ogni esperienza di contatto è fuggevole, evanescente.Finché immagini di essere un riflessorimarrai confinato nella tribolazione e nel disagio.

Finché immagini di sentirti separato dalla sofferenzacercherai di evitarlasenza sapere che difattiti seguirà ovunque tu vada.

Non temere la sofferenza,affrontala, immergendoti in essa,e da lì sprofonda nell’impensabile,penetra nell’abisso e troverai la fonteda cui ogni riflesso prende vita,il vero tesoro.

Oggi si celebra la festività del Raksa-Bandhana (legame di protezione), il giorno in cui i devoti legano un filo al polso del proprio Guru, affinché la sua grazia possa proteggerli da ogni ‘caduta’ ed ‘errore’. Il Guru a sua volta assume l’impegno a proteggere il devoto nei momenti difficili della propria sadhana.

In India, oggi, ogni sorella, regala al fratello un braccialetto in segno di rispetto e per chiedere protezione. Il fratello consapevolmente difenderà sua sorella per tutto l’anno a venire.

Antiche tradizioni originarie da ‘visioni divine’ delle ere splendide in cui ancora vigevano i veri valori umani e spirituali.

A Lucknow con Papaji ogni anno si celebrava questa Festività. Papaji risplendeva di un amore e dolcezza angelica. Quella beatitudine avvolgente è rimasta impressa come un tesoro di saggezza divina.

Cari amici,

stiamo cercando di trovare un giusto equilibrio per consentire gli Incontri di Meditazione per i meditanti del Centro, e al contempo prevenire la diffusione dell’epidemia. Al momento la sede di Shanti Gaia non è consentita, ma abbiamo trovato una sala in una meravigliosa Villa, vicino Rieti, che può ospitarci tutti nel rispetto delle disposizioni di legge riguardo alle restrizioni e obblighi sui nostri comportamenti.

L’Incontro inizierà alle ore 09:30 e terminerà alle 19:00 con una simbolica Celebrazione di Gurupurnima.

Verrà offerto un piccolo rinfresco durante la Celebrazione.

È possibile pranzare presso il ristorante della struttura a pagamento e previa prenotazione (chi non si prenota non potrà pranzare).

Prezzo fisso 25 euro.

Per chi viene da lontano c’è possibilità di richiedere una camera nella struttura.
